  • From the first performance of Giuseppe Verdi's Aida in 1913, the Roman amphitheater has been the destination of choice for those who love bel canto, an exclusive location surrounded in a magic atmosphere the imposing arches of its walls. Not to be missed!

Escalus Luxury Suites, overlooking Via Mazzini and with an entrance on Vicolo Tre Marchetti, is 50 meters from the Verona Arena, the Roman amphitheater that, every summer, hosts a prestigious lyric opera season, conveniently reached by our guests, already in their formal attire.

In a historic palazzo with the elegant shop windows of Furla, Escalus Luxury Suites offers a stay in the heart of Verona's shopping district between Via Mazzini, Piazza Bra and Piazza delle Erbe.

Rich in art and culture, Verona's old town center contains the medieval Scaligero Bridge and Castelvecchio, the ancient residence of the lords of Verona, today an impressive Civic Museum, skillfully restored and organized by Carlo Scarpa, which contains the famous equestrian statue of Prince Cangrande della Scala.

In Shakespeare's play “Romeo and Juliet” - set in Verona in 1302 - the lord of the city is called "Escalo," a name that recalls the surname "Della Scala," the famous Lords of Verona and, in fact, at the time the lord of the city was Bartolomeo I Della Scala.

Escalus Luxury Suites is named after Prince Escalus and, from here you can reach the famous Juliet's Balcony and see the statue of the romantic heroine.

The Della Scala Family

  • Lords of Verona until the end of the 14th century, the Della Scala family were the architects of the transition from commune to signory, governing the city's turbulent political life with ability and wisdom, expanding the borders of Verona beyond Brescia, Parma and Lucca due to the efforts of Mastino II, the successor to Cangrande, the able prince that Dante mentions in the Divine Comedy.
